2022, that’s a wrap.

It’s December. How did we get here again? How did all those, hours, days, and months fly by so quickly? It feels like a whirlwind on one hand and a slog on the other. So much has happened, for the good and the sad. So many moments, experiences, and feelings. It’s tough to reflect sometimes … Continue reading 2022, that’s a wrap.

Moments of Hell, moments of Joy

Life is a series of moments, which combine to be experiences. The same can be said about running, because after all running is life right 😉 There was a moment in the summer of 2020, when the hope that a longer race would happen entered my mind. That moment released thought patterns that formed to … Continue reading Moments of Hell, moments of Joy

CCC Baby!

Having the strength and confidence to let rip on a technical down hill, three quarters of the way into a 100km race in the middle of the night is probably the best thing ever. To trust your body and your shoes to bring you down 800m of switch backs and into the aid station ready … Continue reading CCC Baby!

The Legendary Lakeland 50

“Make sure you drop your £1 in the collection box”. This is what the lovely lady serving cheese toasties at the final check point said to me and other runners as were preparing for the final climb and descent of the race. The collection box in question is mandatory on this race to help raise … Continue reading The Legendary Lakeland 50

Steps of Joy and Pain

When was the last time you spent time truly alone amongst people? I don’t think it happens a lot, it certainly hasn’t happened to me for a while. I remember in 2000 I went to Italy on my own and for around 10 days I was truly alone in a country where I couldn’t speak … Continue reading Steps of Joy and Pain

Hardmoors…finally

I have spent a little time over the last week thinking about when I would start this. I also spent some time during and straight after the race thinking about a theme for this blog. It was going to have a Lord of the Rings vibe because the race finished in Helmsley and I related … Continue reading Hardmoors…finally

2021, another weird one!

At the end of 2020 I broke up my review of the year into months. I think that was because of what happened that year. It felt good to reflect on what I achieved each month in life and running. To put down in words that the year of covid (pt1) did actually have some … Continue reading 2021, another weird one!

That escalated quickly!

Where do you see yourself in 6 years? This is a classic old school interview question about where you see your life going. For the interviewer to assess if you are ambitious and/or if you are likely to stay at the company if the career path is correct. Progression basically. This is usually gauged over … Continue reading That escalated quickly!

2020 a year in reflection

Around the end of November, we decided that it would be great to give a gift of photos to our parents this Christmas. I haven’t seen my dad all year and my mum only once. They have missed seeing what we have got up to this crazy year. We created a shared album and started … Continue reading 2020 a year in reflection

What now?

A lot can change in a few weeks, even a few days. Just a few weeks ago I started writing a blog about how I found myself running ultras and what they meant to me. I never quite finished it as so much has changed. To be honest I should have seen it coming, we … Continue reading What now?

@maverickrunproject long run days are the best!
Big day out on the Far Eastern fells.
Never be afraid to change the plan.
Lakeland adventures, I have missed you!
Back to the lakes tomorrow!😍
Training. It’s the hours we put in that no one sees, unless you like to #stravastalk 😜. I kinda gave up posting every run/session a while ago but the work is still going on. 4-5 runs a week, 2 strength sessions, intervals, steady state runs etc. Its not sexy, it’s been mostly in the dark and solo but this is what I need to do. 2 months of training done for @lavaredoultratrail and the build is just getting started. Time to head into the next phase and I am excited for some more sexy runs, not in the dark!🤣
Love, love, love leading these runs!
Just because it looks 😍
When I finished SDW100 in 2021, I said never again to a 100. Then a couple of weeks later, I said never again unless it’s something different🤦🏻‍♂️🤣. Like I have posted about before, doing scary things and saying yes to adventure are my mantras. So today I finally was able to sign up to the @spinerace Challenger South. 108 miles of Pennine way “fun” in January 2024.
